I read it when it first came out and found that it made me understand the Trinity in a personal way that had before only been academic. It totally changed the way I talk to God, and made my faith walk more real somehow. I know there's been a ton of controversy over it, and even one of my mentors said it was one of the worst and most dangerous books ever. But for me, it was a very good thing in my life and the fruit that resulted has been good.
Shortly after I read it, I got on Paul Young's website and found out he was coming to our town to speak. So I took a chance and invited him to dinner. He said yes and brought his sister. The conversation over Greek food that night was incredible, and I saw his heart come through and understood a little more where that story came from.
While I know many folks who aren't fans, I for one, am. It may not be a perfect book, but I learned a lot and finally made a connection between my brain and my heart about my walk with God that I hadn't ever been able to have before.
Thanks for sharing! There were many ideas in the book with which I really agreed. I've decided to read it again, since I just haven't fully decided what I think about it!
